Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Dermalux LED phototherapy?

Dermalux LED is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light that may interact with normal skin processes. By harnessing specific Red, Blue, and Near Infrared wavelengths, the treatment is intended to address a variety of skin concerns, ranging from acne and redness to general skin rejuvenation - without the need for thermal damage or downtime.

2. How do the different light wavelengths function?

Each wavelength targets the skin at a different depth to achieve specific clinical goals. The Blue light (415nm) is utilised to reduce acne-causing bacteria and balance oil production. The Red light (633nm) is intended to support collagen production and improve skin tone. The Near Infrared light (830nm) reaches the deeper layers to help calm inflammation, reduce redness, and promote tissue healing and repair.

3. What does a clinical LED session involve?

A Dermalux LED session is a relaxing, non-thermal experience. After the skin is cleansed, the LED canopy is positioned over the treatment area for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Most clients describe the sensation as a warm, pleasant light. Because the treatment does not involve UV rays or heat damage, there is no downtime required, and you can resume your daily programme immediately following the session.

4. How many treatments are recommended for optimal skin health?

Some individuals may notice changes in skin appearance following treatment, a series of treatments is usually recommended for long-term clinical benefits. Depending on your specific concerns, such as active acne or rosacea, an initial intensive course of eight sessions may be advised. Our team will assess your skin during your consultation to determine the most appropriate treatment frequency for your needs.
